HP “E” printers do not accept aftermarket cartridges

Some HP LaserJet printers with model names ending in “e” or “we” only work with certain types of cartridges. Even if two cartridges have the same number and look the same, an “e” printer may reject compatible or remanufactured versions because of built-in restrictions. This often surprises people who expect any matching cartridge to work. Before buying ink, always check if your printer is an “e” model and make sure the cartridge is specifically approved for it.

Always check on the front of your printer and make sure the printer model number does not end in “e” or “we”. If your printer ends in “e” or “we” you must use original HP cartridges.
